The next General Meeting of the Midland Institute of Mining Engineers will take place on Thursday 11 March 2010 at 4pm. A paper on "New Mine Development, Margam, South Wales" will be given by Mr Andy Dunbar, Corus/Tata Steel Group.
All members, guests and visitors are welcome to attend at either Mansfield Mines Rescue Station or Kellingley Mines Rescue Station. Please follow the links below for directions to the rescue stations.

The annual safety seminar "Safely Managing the Challenge of Change 2010" will be held at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria, Sheffield on Friday 16th April. The cost to delegates is £35 and the day starts with registration, tea/coffee from 8.30am with the presentations beginning at 9am. This important event has been attended by an increasing number of delegates over the last few years and the 2009 seminar very nearly reached maximum numbers. Early pre-registration is therefore recommended. A Pre-registration form can be downloaded here.
The event is also an opportunity for companies or organisations to showcase their products or services. A limited number of trade stands can be accommodated at a cost of £150 and booked using the trade stand registration form which can be downloaded here.

The safety seminar is followed the next day, Saturday 17th April, by the Mining and Minerals Industry Joint Annual Dinner Dance which is held at the same venue. Places are available at a cost of £35 per person and once again early booking is recommended for this very popular event. Further information and a booking form can be downloaded here.

120 members and guests attended a successful Members' Dinner at Mount Pleasant Hotel on Friday 6th November 2009. An excellent meal was followed by the presentation of a number of certificates to new fellows of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and the presentation of the Webster Medal to Mr Peter Emery. Members and guests then enjoyed the opportunity to meet and chat to friends and colleagues.
